Homecoming Sunday – Sept. 18

We will be having a very special service on Sunday, September 18 as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the church. We will have one worship service that Sunday, which will bring together each of our worshipping communities. It will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary and will be followed by a free meal catered by City Barbecue in the Gym. Childcare is through preschool. Please see the note on parking below.

Parking Spaces on Homecoming Sunday

Parking on September 18 is going to be very limited. Those who can park away from the main entrances are encouraged to show hospitality in this way. If you are able, please park in the neighboring lots along Perimeter Drive, to the left of the church building. Spaces closest to the church including behind the church should remain open as handicap spots.

Postcard Invitations

Postcard invitations for our Homecoming Sunday are on display in the lobby, the Welcome Center, and Connection Center. You make take one home, apply your own postage, address, and mail it to someone you would like to join us in celebrating. Please take this opportunity to invite a friend, former member, or a future member of St. Luke.

Confirmation Class for Youth

All young people who have just begun the 6th grade (or any above 6th grade who have not been involved in confirmation before) are invited to be a part of this year’s class. We will explore what it means to be a member of St. Luke. Each week will be led by a different staff member of the church.  This will begin on Sunday, September 25 with a fun activity immediately following the 11:00 service, followed by the first class from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. Classes will then be held from 4:30 to 5:30 through October 30. You can sign up by calling or emailing the church office, signing the sheet in the Connection Center, or by talking with Jeremy Arnold. Questions? Talk with Jeremy (jarnold@stlukumc.org) for more information.

Upward Volunteers Meeting

If you have an interest in serving on our Upward team, please attend our first meeting this Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 127.

Pumpkinfest Needs You!

St. Luke’s Children’s Ministry Leadership Team is already contemplating our Pumpkinfest on October 29th. We would LOVE to have our own pumpkin themed carnival type games to have available to groups who want to participate. Are you the “Carpenter” type who can build one or two games? Are you the “Artist” type who can paint them and make them come to life? Please contact Susan at scutshall@stlukeumc.org and let her know you can help make this outreach event even more exciting!

Louisiana Flood Relief Donations

We are assembling cleaning buckets for UMCOR Louisiana Flood relief efforts.  You can find a list of needed items in the Connection Center, the Welcome Center, the Cafe, and on our website. Drop-off items in the Connection Center. Please drop-off only the items on the list.  Cash donations are also welcomed.  Please make out a check to St. Luke UMC and put “Louisiana Disaster” in the memo line.
