Happy New Year!
Happy Balloon Fund New Year! Your amazing response to the Balloon Fund (Save-a-Million) has enabled us, in less than six months, to complete the first year of the 10 year effort to retire our debt. So, we are pushing forward into another year starting today. For the rest of 2015, we are going to party like it’s 2025 (which would be the final year of debt if we are successful in retiring it in ten years). And so, for the remainder of this year, we are going to be selling balloons ($600 a piece) towards the goal of $78,000 for principal on the back end year of 2025.We will continue to pay towards the principal as we receive the funds, but we will credit anything that we receive for the remainder of the year towards the 2025 goal. For every year of that original 10 year goal that we can complete early, we will potentially save an additional $50,000 in interest, over the life of the loan. So Happy New Year. Let’s keep soaring together and save 1,050,000 over the ever shortening life of the loan!
Lexington District Conference
The Lexington District Conference will be held on Sunday, July 12 at 6:30 P.M. at Southern Hills United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome.
God’s Pantry Help
The pantry is very low on canned vegetables, soups and fruits.Supplies from the main pantry are very limited right now due to the usual summer slump in donations. In addition to soups and fruits, we need all kinds of canned vegetables including peas, carrots, beets, tomatos, greens as well as the usual green beans and corn. Donations may be put in the blue barrels in the Life Center lobby and by the Cafe.
Meet-with Pastor and Staff
If you are new to the church and would like to briefly meet the Pastor and others of the staff, please make your way to the Connection Center after the 9:45 and 11:10 service for a quick Meet and Greet time. We are looking forward to meeting you. Come join us.
St. Luke Serves: Back-to-School
Although it seems summer break just began, we are getting ready for our annual Back to School outreach project. This year we are serving students living in the new Nathaniel Mission neighborhood and those involved in St. Luke ministries. The traditional ‘tree’ will be up Sunday with names of needy students and sizes for an outfit of clothes and a pair of shoes. Gifts need to be back to church by August 2 for distribution that day. We will need a lot of volunteers to manage this large project. Please stop by the Connection Center and see where you can serve. You will be blessed.
New Summer Study
Join us for Ordinary People, Extraordinary Grace, a study in which we will watch selected episodes of the acclaimed series, “Call the Midwife” and explore ways we can be means of extraordinary grace through our ordinary lives and actions. Wendell Barnett will facilitate the study on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 p.m., though August 5 in the Trinity Room. Questions? Contact Wendell Barnett (email@example.com) or Nora Conner (firstname.lastname@example.org, 269-4687).
