Volunteer to Light the Advent Wreath – Sign up today!

As is our custom, we will be having families and individuals light the candles of the Advent  Wreath during each morning service on Dec. 6, Dec. 13, Dec. 20 as well as the two services on Christmas Eve.  The church will provide you with the ritual for each service. If you and/or your family would like to be a very special part of our Advent/Christmas Worship please sign up in the Connection Center, contact the church office, Pastor Mark or Will Solomon.


Christmas Gifts for the Homeless

Thank you to all of you who have helped provide backpacks and hoodies to Lexington homeless through Nathaniel Mission. We still need to have several more backpacks sponsored with $25 checks placed in our offering plate.Hoodies can be left in the Resource Room beside the Connection Center, by December 6.

Feed the Choir

Our choir and instrumentalists will present a wonderful Christmas Music Sunday Celebration at all three morning services on Sunday, December 13, arriving for warm up before 8:00 a.m. Sign up at the Connection Center if you would like to provide a plate of “revival food” for our faithful musicians. Food may be brought to the choir room as early as possible that Sunday.

Volunteers Needed for Upward

Upward is looking for volunteers to help with basketball evaluations Thurs, Dec. 3, 6-7:30 pm and Sat, Dec. 5, 9-10:30 am.  It’s simple, fun and would be very helpful.  Contact Ed or email

Operation Christmas Child Packing Trip

On Sunday, December 13 following the 11:10 AM worship service Earl Brady will be leading a group to Atlanta to assist in preparing shoeboxes at the processing center. Depart St. Luke at 12:30 p.m. and return to St. Luke on Tuesday evening.  Transportation provided by St. Luke for fourteen.  Two nights lodging and food cost are covered by the participant.  To sign up or for additional information contact Earl Brady at 619-0160 or

Extra Christmas Decorations?

St. Luke is joyfully accepting Christmas decorations for God’s Pantry recipients. Please consider donating new or gently-used items to brighten up others homes during the holidays. Donations can be left at the table outside the door of God’s Pantry starting Sunday.

Christ Tree        

In St. Luke tradition, we have names and gift suggestions for children involved in our outreach ministries.We will provide each child with a clothing item and a toy. Each family will get a gift certificate for a holiday meal. Come to the Connection Center for more information.  All gifts must be brought to church by December 20 for distribution that day.

Thank You for Your Help

The Going Forth Team wishes to thank all involved in the Operation Christmas Child shoe box ministry.  Those that packed a shoe box and those involved in the packing party.  St Luke UMC packed 148 boxes this year.  Small shoe boxes can have a big impact.  You are part of changing children’s lives all over the world in Jesus’ name.  Since 1993 over 100 million children worldwide have received boxes.
