Summer Study:  Revival!

Do you find that your faith sometimes seems less strong than others?  Do you long for a faith that is robust and fully alive? If so, you are in good company!  In fact, the founder of Methodism, John Wesley, had this same experience and desire, and his message and faith continue to speak to us today—calling for a revival of our hearts and souls so that our world might be changed.  Join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:15 p.m., beginning July 10, for Adam Hamilton’s Revival:  Faith as Wesley Lived It.  A light meal will be provided!  Contact facilitator Nora Conner at nconner@stlukeumc.org or 859-269-4687 with questions or to sign up, or sign up in the Connection Center.

Looking for Food Rescue Volunteers

A few weeks of experience has shown that it would be very helpful to have our own St. Luke Food Rescue volunteers to do the Tuesday and Thursday pick-ups from the Bryan Station Road Kroger’s.  Pick up would need to be by 10 a.m. with food delivery to St. Luke around 11 a.m. Brief training would be provided. Several folks could share this task. For more information contact Karen Hinkle at kphinkle@twc.com.

Lexington Legends Game for Young Adults

The St. Luke Young Adults (college age and post-college age) will be going to the Legends game on today  at 2:00 PM. We will eat lunch after the 10:45/11:00am service and then head over to the ballpark. Feel free to meet us for lunch or at the ballpark!  Contact John Duff at jduff@stlukeumc.org for more info.

Prayers for Guatemala Mission Trip

St. Luke has sent a mission team to Jalapal, Guatemala through July 1. Please be in prayer for the team as they minister to people with the distribution of reading glasses, a fluoride dental application, dental hygiene classes, a VBS program, sewing and business classes, through visiting with the seniors in the nursing home, and so much more. Please also pray for the team members, Amanda Draughn, Melissa and Colin VanCamp, Craig Potts, Denise Ockerman, Earl and Sharlene Brady, Fredda Hibpshman, Janet and Steve Garrison, Jesse Pinkston, Rebecca Simpson, Kaye Simpson, Marcia Foster, Steve Brodersen, and Kimberly Iden.

We are still in need of some financial sponsors for our trip. If you would like to be a part of the mission effort, it is not too late, please drop a donation in the offering plate with the memo “Guatemala Mission Trip.”

Volunteer in Worship this Summer

It’s summer, the kids are out of school, and the choir is on summer break! St. Luke has a tradition for members and friends to share their talents by providing Offertory music during the summer months. We are seeking talented persons of all ages to fill in the blanks on the sign-up list posted on the wall by the Connection Center for Sundays running through August 18. Please sign up or call Mariann with the dates you are available (mreinke@stlukeumc.org/419-494-3335). You will be contacted with further details.

Fifth Sunday Offering

Next week, June 30, we are taking our Fifth Sunday Offering for Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Homes. Our children’s homes need us more than ever before in the fight to save our children and families from the devastation from Kentucky’s Opioid Epidemic: The Facts– 1) The number of child abuse victims removed from their homes in Kentucky is 3X higher than the national average. 2) The number of confirmed cases of child abuse/neglect in Kentucky has increased by 94% in the last four years. 3) Our Methodist Children’s Homes served over 800 children last year and is on track to serve more this year. Our Methodist Children’s Homes are asking us to make a renewed commitment to 1) pray for the children and 2) generously support the Fifth Sunday Offerings. Please prayerfully consider a special gift for this 5th Sunday Offering by writing a check to St. Luke with “5th Sunday Offering” or “KYUMCH” in the memo line.
