Light the Advent Wreath This Year

It is our tradition to have individuals and families light the Advent Wreath at each morning worship service during Advent/Christmas.   We will need three families or individuals for the 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 services on December 4, 11 and 18.  And for the two services on Christmas Eve, 5:30 and 7:30.    If you would like to be a part of this wonderful tradition, please contact Will Solomon or Pastor Mark.   Or sign up on the sheet in the Connection Center.

Thank You from Nathaniel Mission

So many supported the community meal served at Nathaniel Mission last Tuesday.  Thank you for the donations of cranberry sauce, rolls. Veggies, kitchen towels, and serving the meal and cleaning up. Warm homemade scarves were given to those leaving into the cold night. You were a blessing to our local people in need.

Feed the Choir

At St. Luke UMC we have a tradition of “Feeding the Choir” during the special Christmas Choir Services, and we hope you will help us! Please bring your breakfast/ brunch items to the church early on Sunday morning, December 11 so our musicians know they are appreciated for all their hard work! A sign-up sheet will be posted at the Connection Center.

Upward Help Needed • We still need volunteers to be coaches, assistant coaches, referees, timekeepers, and other game day volunteers. These are NOT positions that require skilled knowledge of the game of basketball. Upward provides a book that teaches everything you need to know and do to be a volunteer. Please contact Ed Towle, etowle@stlukeumc.org.

Too Busy NOT to Pray? • You are invited to our class on prayer, continuing through December 7. We are using Bill Hybels’ book, “Too Busy Not To Pray” and accompanying video series on Sunday evenings 5:30-7:00, facilitated by Chuck and Sue Lord. Childcare available upon request.

If you enjoy working with children and want to make a difference in their lives, Come serve one or more Tuesdays per month for Kids Café (3:30-5:00 pm), our outreach program for children K-middle school.  Questions? Contact Pam Harned, kidscafeslumc@gmail.com

Christ Tree

Reach out to those families in need served by our church by choosing a name from the Christ Tree at the Connection Center. Please select a gift, wrap it, or place gift cards in an envelope. We are providing gift certificates for groceries and other Christmas items and gifts.  Please attach the green name tags provided to your packages and envelopes.  All gifts must be brought to church by Sunday, December 18, for distribution that afternoon. Thank you for supporting this ministry that is a part of St. Luke tradition.

Extra Christmas Decorations?

St. Luke is joyfully accepting Christmas decorations for God’s Pantry recipients. Please consider donating new or gently-used items to brighten up others homes during the holidays. Donations can be left at the table outside the door of God’s Pantry starting today.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy.  Many blessings are prayed into the shawls. The Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Luke Methodist Church meets every Tuesday morning in room 114 from 10:00-12:00.  If you knit/crochet, or would like to learn, please join us in the making and giving of the Prayer Shawls.
