Wednesday.comm Meal and Classes • Our meal for Wednesday, October 18, is prepared and served by the St. Luke handbell choirs. All proceeds will go to support Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center. Meal: hot dogs with all the trimmings, potato salad, baked beans, ice cream sandwich or cookies. Meals are $5 per plate (sharing is allowed, max. $15 per family) and will be served from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m.
October is Pastor & Staff Appreciation Month • Although we appreciate our pastors and staff all year long, October is designated as pastor/staff appreciation month by the United Methodist Church. This month is the perfect time to show the staff the love, honor and encouragement they so deserve in special ways. Baskets will be placed in the Connection and Welcome Centers for you to leave cards, letters, notes of appreciation etc. Many of the staff members also love gift cards, chocolate, cookies and donuts!! Let’s be creative and show the staff how much we appreciate what they do for us all year long.
UMW Holiday Market • October 20 & 21 • The United Methodist Women will be holding a Holiday Market on Friday, Oct. 20 from 6:00- 9:00p.m. and on Saturday, October 21 from 9:00-3:00 p.m. Come do some shopping, find unique gifts and helpful items, and support local artists, vendors, and crafters and support the United Methodist Women and your local entrepreneurs.
Pumpkinfest is October 21 • The Children’s Ministry Leadership will hold our Pumpkinfest with games, activities, and tacos from 5-6:30pm in our front parking lot (inside the Life Center in the event of bad weather) followed by viewing “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” in the Loft on a giant screen at 6:30 p.m.! St. Luke Basketball League is Coming! • The brand new and improved St. Luke Basketball League for kids is coming soon! Volunteers, coaches, referees, and participants will be needed. Be on the lookout for information coming soon!
Blue Barrel Sunday • This Sunday is Blue Barrel Sunday please bring your bags filled with any and all kinds of soups. Cream of chicken, cream of mushroom and other cream soups are popular as they can be used to create a casserole for a filling meal. Vegetable soup with or without meat, as well as chicken noodle and tomato soups also go quickly.
Volunteer with God’s Pantry for Thanksgiving • On Tuesday, November 21st, St. Luke will be volunteering to distribute food to over a thousand families in three shifts as part of God’s Pantry Community Thanksgiving Food Distribution. This will be at Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road. Shifts will be 9-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m., and 5-7 p.m. There are tasks for a variety of ages and for a range of physical abilities. Volunteers can sign up on the sign-up sheets located on the wall near the Connection Center desk.
