You’re Invited to the Habitat for Humanity Dedication!

The Habitat for Humanity home, that St. Luke and other local United Methodist Churches have been volunteering to build, is finished and it’s time to celebrate another family achieving homeownership! The dedication will take place on Sunday, October 27 from 2-3pm at 230 E Sixth Street. We hope you’ll join us to cheer on Wakenya, Sifa and their family.

Blue Barrel Sunday

This month we are asking for protein items. This can be canned meat such as tuna, chicken, salmon, beef stew etc. Or, it can be mac n cheese or canned protein beans such pinto beans, great northern beans, cannellibeans, black-eyed peas. Pick up a Blue Barrel Bag on October 13th and return on Sunday, October 20th. On vacation or out of town on those dates? You can drop off your contributions any time by leaving at the Blue Barrels by door 3 or at the pantry.

Financial Communication Update

To ensure that we are clear and transparent when we communicate about our church finances, we are updating how and when we provide information to you.  Beginning this month, instead of having a weekly running total of contributions for the month, we will have a bulletin insert on the third Sunday of the month that shows the previous month’s financial picture along with context and how it relates to our ministries.  We are excited about this new way to share about our church’s finances as we partner together for the mission and financial health of our church. Check out the Giving Matters article in our October newsletter for more information!

National Sunday School Leader Appreciation Day

St. Luke will be recognizing and appreciating our Sunday School Leaders on October 20th (next Sunday) in our services and classes.  If you attend a Sunday School and have been encouraged and blessed by a leader we encourage you to do something small for them: bake some cookies, write a thank you note, etc.  We don’t want to overlook or under-appreciate anyone, so please join with us as we celebrate our Sunday School leaders together!

Evening Desk Host Needed

We are seeking an additional person to work approximately 15-20 hours per week as Evening Desk Host, which includes security and locking the building when activities are concluded.  If you would like more information, please contact Venus Brown, vbrown@stluekumc.org or 859-269-4687.

Pumpkinfest This Saturday!

Our 6th annual Pumpkinfest is this Saturday, October 19 with games, activities, and fun from 5-6:30 p.m. in our front parking lot (inside the Life Center in the event of bad weather) followed by viewing “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” in The Loft on a giant screen at 6:30 p.m.! All are welcome! Come and bring your family, friends, and neighbors!

Pastor/Staff Appreciation Month

Although we appreciate our pastors and staff all year long, October is designated as Pastor and Staff Appreciation month by the United Methodist Church.  Please join us in celebrating our Pastors and Staff by expressing our love, appreciation for their dedicated service, and just simple words of encouragement.  Baskets will be placed in the Connection and Welcome Centers during the next couple weeks for you to leave cards, letters, notes of appreciation etc.  Many of the Staff also enjoy receiving gift cards, sweets, and other special gifts. Use your imagination to show our St. Luke Pastors and Staff how much we appreciate what they do for us all year long. Thank you, SPRC
