Charge Conference

This year, our Annual Charge Conference will be held, together along with the rest of the Lexington District, this Thursday, November 30  at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Richmond.   We will need representation from St. Luke. If you are interested in riding the bus down, we need you to sign up on the sheet on the wall in the Connection Center. We will also be holding our own Church Conference this Tuesday, November 28 at 6:30 P.M. in the Sanctuary.   We will elect our leaders for 2018, hear the report of the Staff Parish Relations team concerning clergy salaries,  approve candidates for ministry, and affirm our intentions concerning our Mission Covenant with the rest of the churches of the Kentucky Conference.   It is important to note that we are holding this Church Conference in preparation for the District Conference not in place of it.

Making Christmas Brighter

Got Christmas decorations you no longer use?  Do you have unused or gently used items that can be re-gifted?  Each year we share such items with our God’s Pantry clients who seem to greatly appreciate the choices.  We will receive through December 17. Your gifts will be a blessing to many.

New Advent Study

In his new study Adam Hamilton examines Christmas through the eyes of Joseph so that we can learn to accept and glorify God’s will even when our situation makes it difficult to do so. John Duff will be leading Adam Hamilton’s new study, ‘Faithful: Christmas through the eyes of Joseph’, this Advent season on Sunday nights from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate in this special season of anticipation and preparation for Christmas. The study will run through December 17th.  Please sign up at the Connection Center!

Wednesday.comm in the Spring

The spring semester of Wednesday.comm will be upon us before you know it!  We will need help serving the meals as usual and would like your group or class to consider serving one meal this semester. One of the many benefits of serving this meal is that your group can raise money for any mission opportunity that you would like. There is a sign-up sheet by the Connection Center that you can use to sign up for a specific night if your group is able and willing.  The sign-up sheet will help so you know what spots are still available.  Our spring semester runs January 24th through May 2nd.  Also feel free to email or call Marty Sell at and: 859 296-1038.  John’s email is if you would like to include him in your email.

Upcoming Christmas Worship Services

On December 10, our children will be leading us in the 9:45 and 11:00 services. On December 17, the Chancel Choir (with Orchestra) will present their annual Cantata, telling the Christmas story with beautiful music at the 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 services in the Sanctuary.  This year, Christmas Eve is on Sunday, so we will have three opportunities to celebrate.   We will have only one service that Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.   This will be our annual Service of Lessons and Carols.  That evening we will gather at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for our traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight services.   Join us for all the Services of Advent/Christmas.

Feed the Choir

At St. Luke UMC we have a tradition of “Feeding the Choir” during the special Christmas Choir Services, and we hope you will help us! Please bring your breakfast/ brunch items to the church, to place in the Altar Guild room, early on Sunday morning, December 17 so our musicians know they are appreciated for all their hard work! A sign-up sheet will be posted at the Connection Center.
