EASTER WORSHIP

On Easter Sunday, April 21, in addition to our regular Sunday services, we will also have an Easter Sunrise service at 7:00 am outside under the cross and flame.

Easter Floral Cross

As is our custom we will be decorating the Floral Cross on Sunday. As you come to church on Easter morning, clip a few flowers or get some from a store and bring them and slip them into the cross which will be just outside of Door #1.  Just as God did with Jesus’ resurrection, let’s transform the cross into a thing of great beauty. Please take your photos and family photos with the cross and share them on social media using the hashtag #SLUMCEaster or email them to us at mwalz@stlukeumc.org!

Service Of Baptism, Saturday, April 20, 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.

The Lenten Season in the early church was a time of preparation for persons who were to be baptized during the Easter Celebration. In keeping with that ancient tradition, our Swahili Worshiping Community will be celebrating a service of Baptism on Easter Saturday, April 20, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.  Pastor Mark will join with Pastor Issaya in leading the service. We look forward to several adults being presented for Baptism that day. Everyone is invited to come and join in this great celebration and welcome these new Christians into the family of God.

Everyone is encouraged to attend, even if you’ve never made it to a Wednesday.comm meal or class before!

Our next series of lessons will be from the book Twelve Ordinary Men – How The Master Shaped His Disciples For Greatness and What He Wants To Do With You by John MacArthur.  Join us to learn more about the twelve disciples.

Two Chances To Learn And Talk About St. Luke With The Pastor and Staff

Are you pretty new to St. Luke and wondering about all the ministries and opportunities to learn and serve?   Do you have questions about the church? Have you been thinking about next steps in your relationship with the church?   Well let us buy you lunch or dinner and just spend some time “talking church” together. There will be a couple of opportunities to get together in the next few weeks.   The first will be on Wednesday, April 24 during Wednesday.comm. We will have a special table reserved in the gym where we can gather for dinner and conversation. No reservations are necessary.   The meal begins at 5:15 and we will finish by 7:00. Or you can join us for lunch after the 10:45 and 11:00 services in the Fellowship Hall on April 28. We’ll just have some pizza or sandwiches and talk about the church.  We’ll start at 12:15 and finish by 1:30. If you plan to attend the Sunday session, it would be very helpful if you would sign up on the sheet hanging in the Connection Center so we’ll know how much lunch we’ll need to prepare.   If you have any questions, contact Pastor Mark at the church or at mgirard@stlukeumc.org.   We’re looking forward to being with you.

Blue Barrel Sunday

Today is Blue Barrel Sunday, the third Sunday of the month in which we bring in donations for our God’s Pantry. Please place your blue barrel bags (filled with canned miscellaneous vegetables) in or near one of the Blue Barrels today. If you forgot your back, we will accept your donations at any time!
