ESL Ministry Needs You!

For almost 5 years, St. Luke has offered an English as a Second Language (ESL) class here on Wednesday afternoons. We currently need people willing to drive the church van to help transport our class members. All you need is a “regular” driver’s license and a willingness to serve! Please contact, Marcie Barnett (293-1490), Janet Garrison (272-3226), or Nora Conner for more information.

Do You Juggle?

Would you be willing to teach some Kid’s Cafe children how to juggle? Kid’s Cafe meets on Tuesdays, 3:30-5:00, starting September 13. Contact Sue Lord, 797-1586,, if you have interest, questions.

The Mountain Mission Truck is Coming!

The Mountain Mission is in great need of men’s and children’s clothing (both summer and winter), hand soap for the restrooms, toilet paper, garbage bags (13 gallon and up), paper towels, mops, brooms, rubber bands, safety pins, coffee, creamer, and coffee cups. We also need lots of banana boxes! Please drop off donated items to the Resource Room (just past the Connection Center) before August 1. Thank you so much for responding!

Back-to-School Project

As is the tradition at St. Luke, we are helping needy families and children get ready for school by providing a pair of shoes and an outfit of clothes for each student. This year we have the opportunity to help 11 new refugee families from our Swahili congregation along with others from our ESL program and our Alms outreach.  Please come to the Connection Center tree display and select names of students you can help. If you will not be able to bring your gift to church on Aug. 7, you can bring it early and be sure an usher or volunteer secures your gift.  All gifts will be distributed on August 7.

Charity Event Opportunity

If you would like to be on a team that will participate in the Bluegrass Youth for Christ Sporting Clay Scramble Charity Event on Saturday, August 13, contact Dave Shepard at 859-494-3270.  The team will be in memory of Bill Howard.
