Church Conference • December 7 at 6:00 p.m. • Sanctuary • District Superintendent James Williams will be with us on this evening to lead us in our Annual Church Conference as we consider the business of the church.   Items on the agenda will include: affirming leadership for 2017,  setting of salaries for all clergy appointed by the Annual Conference, and hearing the ministry reports of staff and directors.  Every member of the church is encouraged to participate in this annual celebration of the ministry of the church.

Light the Advent Wreath This Year

It is our tradition to have individuals and families light the Advent Wreath at each morning worship service during Advent/Christmas.   We will need three families or individuals for the 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 services on December 11 and 18.  And for the two services on Christmas Eve, 5:30 and 7:30.    If you would like to be a part of this wonderful tradition, please contact Will Solomon or Pastor Mark.   Or sign up on the sheet in the Connection Center.

Feed the Choir

At St. Luke UMC we have a tradition of “Feeding the Choir” during the special Christmas Choir Services, and we hope you will help us! Please bring your breakfast/ brunch items to the church early on Sunday morning, December 11 so our musicians know they are appreciated for all their hard work! A sign-up sheet will be posted at the Connection Center.

Upward Help Needed • We still need volunteers to be coaches, assistant coaches, referees, timekeepers, and other game day volunteers. These are NOT positions that require skilled knowledge of the game of basketball. Upward provides a book that teaches everything you need to know and do to be a volunteer. Please contact Ed Towle, etowle@stlukeumc.org.

Christmas Worship • Next Sunday, Dec. 11, our annual Christmas Music Sunday, led by the Chancel Choir and our wonderful music ministry, will take place during the morning services. Then on Sunday, Dec. 18 for “A Service of Lessons and Carols” as we celebrate Christ’s birth through scripture, congregational signing and special music. Our two annual Christmas Eve Candlelight services will be at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and take place in the Sanctuary. On Christmas morning we will only have one morning service in the Sanctuary at 10:00 a.m.

Christ Tree

Reach out to those families in need served by our church by choosing a name from the Christ Tree at the Connection Center. Please select a gift, wrap it, or place gift cards in an envelope. We are providing gift certificates for groceries and other Christmas items and gifts.  Please attach the green name tags provided to your packages and envelopes.  All gifts must be brought to church by Sunday, December 18, for distribution that afternoon. Thank you for supporting this ministry that is a part of St. Luke tradition.

Extra Christmas Decorations?

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy.  Many blessings are prayed into the shawls. The Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Luke Methodist Church meets every Tuesday morning in room 114 from 10:00-12:00.  If you knit/crochet, or would like to learn, please join us in the making and giving of the Prayer Shawls.
