Mountain Mission Truck

The United Methodist Mountain Mission has 8 opportunity stores in Eastern Kentucky. With the help of supporters like you, they are able to provide gently used clothing and household items at a reasonable price. They are looking for new Christmas toys, Men’s shoes, Men’s winter clothes, winter shoes/boots, summer clothes, good pots and pans, men’s shoes, good used furniture, coffee, coffee cups, air fresheners, 33 gallon garbage bags, Pinesol, dust mops, toilet bowl cleaner, sugar, paper towels, toilet tissue. Please place your items in the stairwell by the Connection Center before Monday, December 2.

Contemporary Worship Joining in Sanctuary on December 15 Music Sunday

The Contemporary Worship service will be joining the Traditional Services in the Sanctuary on December 15th, which is our Christmas Cantata or “Music Sunday”.  Thus our service will not meet in the fellowship hall on the 15th, and will resume our normal worship time at 10:45 on December 22nd.

 

United Methodist Women Christmas Celebration

The United Methodist Women of St Luke will celebrate Christmas on Dec.3 rd at 6pm in Fellowship Hall. Instead of exchanging gifts, we’ve chosen to bring gifts for The Nest. We will have pizza, salad, and dessert and play some Christmas themed games. Ladies, come join us for food and fun, also we’d encourage you to share gifts with The Nest(an organization that provides many programs and aids for children and families) – bring an unwrapped gift, suitable for children 0 to 5yrs. If you are unable to attend that evening and want to donate, please leave (unwrapped) toys in the Connection Center. Hope to see you on Tuesday, Dec. 3 rd at 6pm!

 

Christmas Candlelight Services

Join us for one of our two annual Christmas Eve Candlelight services as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. The service times are 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and take place in the Sanctuary with a Christmas meal at 6:30 p.m. Bring the whole family and invite a friend to this very special service you won’t want to miss!

 

Holiday Hope at St.  Luke

While many people are celebrating the joy of the holidays, do you find yourself struggling? On Sunday, Dec. 8 from 5:30 to 7:30  p.m., St. Luke will be graced with the presence and talents of Diane Munoz, Chaplain with Bluegrass Hospice Care who will lead us in an evening service that will include a time of cherishing memories as well as a program on how to live through the holidays with hope. Please bring a copy of your favorite photograph and we’ll be using them to make ornaments during the 5:30-6:30 time prior to the worship service.

 

St. Luke Family Christmas Eve Dinner 

St. Luke wants to invite the church family to a community dinner for members and guests alike. There will be a meal in between the two Christmas Eve services from 6:30-7:30pm. Feel free to come and go as you attend the services. St. Luke will provide the meat and the drinks but please bring a side or dessert to share. Come worship and gather around the table with your St. Luke family.  Volunteers will also be needed to help set up before the meal and to help clean up afterwards. Our Senior Pastor, Brian Ebel, would love to meet you on Wednesday, December 4 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for newer people to St. Luke that want to find out more to connect, join the church, be baptized or ask questions.

 

I Am Third at St. Luke: Important Community Outreach Opportunity!

We need volunteer coaches, greeters, concession stand volunteers, scorekeepers, and paid referees for our I Am Third program. Can you help with this important outreach ministry? The season runs November 30 – February 8.Email mwalz@stlukeumc.org to sign up ASAP! 

 

Making Christmas Brighter

Got Christmas decorations you no longer use? Do you have unused or gently used items that can be re-gifted? Each year we share such items with our God’s Pantry clients who seem to greatly appreciate the choices. We will continue to receive through December 20. Your gifts will be a blessing to many.

 

Feed the Choir

At St. Luke UMC we have a tradition of “Feeding the Choir” during the special Christmas Choir Services, and we hope you will help us! Please bring your breakfast/ brunch items to the church early on Sunday morning, December 15, so our musicians know they are appreciated for all their hard work! A sign-up sheet will be posted at the Connection Center.
