Blue Barrel Sunday • Next Sunday •  Today, and each second Sunday of each month there will be blue reusable bags available for you to take as you leave church. This month we are going to be focusing on breakfast items. We ask that you fill it up with cereal, canned goods, and other staples. Next week, on the third Sunday (Blue Barrel Sunday), bring it back to the church and place it (bag and all) in one of the blue barrels which will be near the main doors of the church.   

St. Luke College-age Small Group • 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. • St. Luke University is a group of college-age folks who attend St. Luke.  We gather  to walk alongside one another as we grow in love for God and one another.   We follow hard after Christ.  He is everything to us. Volunteer Signups for Sharing Thanksgiving

St. Luke volunteers will serve on Tuesday, November 22 at Imani Baptist Church on Georgetown Street for the God’s Pantry community wide Thanksgiving Food Baskets. Sign up sheets are posted by the Life Center Welcome desk. Contact Karen Hinkle at kphinkle@twc.com.

Thanksgiving Meal for the Homeless

You can help feed the very needy a traditional holiday meal at Nathaniel Mission. All the local Methodist churches are providing food for a meal on November 22. St. Luke is providing cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, and fresh veggies for relish trays. The mission is also in need of some gently used kitchen towels. Please sign up on the wall at the Connection Center and bring your donations on November 20.  If you would like to decorate tables at 3:00, contact Denise Ockerman at 494-1482, or serve the meal at 5:00, contact Bonnie Lynch at 533-2313.

Upward Help Needed • We still need volunteers to be coaches, assistant coaches, referees, timekeepers, and other game day volunteers. These are NOT positions that require skilled knowledge of the game of basketball. Upward provides a book that teaches everything you need to know and do to be a volunteer. Wednesday.comm Meal and Make-a-Difference Night • Our meal for Wednesday, November 16, is prepared and served by the Aldersgate Camp & Retreat Center.  Proceeds will go to support the camp. Meal: baked spaghetti, green beans, cheesy bread, blueberry cake, and tossed salad. Meals are $5 per plate (sharing is allowed, max. $15 per family) and  will be served from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m.  

Help Prepare Shoebox Gifts at the Processing Center • November 27 • On Sunday November 27, following the 11:00 service, Earl Brady will be leading a group  to Charlotte, NC to assist in preparing shoeboxes at the processing center. We will depart St. Luke at 12:30 p.m. and return on Tuesday evening. Transportation will be provided. Two nights lodging and food costs are covered by the participant. New Member Sunday • November 20

Sunday, November 20 will be Confirmation and New Member Sunday.   We will be welcoming the young people who have been experiencing confirmation this Fall into membership of the church as well as any adults who would like to join the church. The Mountain Mission Truck is Coming!

The Mountain Mission is in great need of men’s and children’s clothing (both summer and winter), hand soap for the restrooms, toilet paper, garbage bags (13 gallon and up), paper towels, mops, brooms, rubber bands, safety pins, coffee, creamer, and coffee cups. We also need lots of banana boxes! Please drop off donated items inside the stairwell storage space in the Connection Center (just past the Connection Center on the left) before November 21. Too Busy Not to Pray Class

Sled In Movie Night! Featuring the movie “Elf”

Join the Fun! Everyone is invited! November 19th, 6pm, in The Loft! Home made “Christmasy” sleds are encouraged for seating during the movie! Christmas pajamas are welcome!
