The months of November and December are the most exciting time for worshipin the church. There will be several special opportunities to celebrate. It begins this Sunday with All Saints Sunday. In each of the three morning services we will remember those in the church family who have passed on to eternity in the past year. We will also remember the lives of family and friends who have passed. These are always such meaningful services.
And then on November 20th we will receive this year’s confirmation class into membership. This will include a time for Baptism and remembering our Baptisms with these outstanding young persons. We also hope to receive others into membership that day. If you would like to be included on that day, please let me know. I look forward to talking with you about it.
And then on November 27, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the Season of Advent/Christmas will begin. There will be special services with lots of the beautiful music of the season each week as we move towards Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. On Sunday, December 11 our music ministry led by the Chancel Choir will lead us in all three services. And then on December 18 we will have our traditional services of Lessons And Carols, featuring the scriptures and carols of the season. It is always a powerful time of worship. Finally, on Christmas Eve we will have our traditional Candlelight Services at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. And on Christmas Morning we will gather for just one morning service at 10:00 a.m. celebrating the birth of Christ. This service will be for the whole family, so come as you are and celebrate with us that most special of days.
All of these special services will necessitate that we transition the 11:00 service back to a more traditional/blended format for the remainder of the year. This will give us an opportunity to re-envision that service while we also seek to discern God’s will for the other two morning services. I am so excited about worship in the coming weeks. Let’s all use this opportunity to renew our commitment to the worshipping community of God, and join together and bring family and friends with you, at this special time of year.
