2017 Charge Conference

This year, our District Superintendent has decided to handle the Annual Charge Conference very differently.   Instead of having clusters of churches gather together or have individual conferences in the larger churches, he has decided to hold one charge Conference for the Lexington District.   This has been scheduled for Thursday, November 30starting at 6:30 P.M.   It will be held at First United Methodist Church in Richmond.   We hope to have good representation there from St. Luke.   As far as the work that normally happens at Charge Conference, we will basically have a time of affirmation of the work that each local church has already done.   Matthew and Nancy Sleeth will be special speakers that night.  However,  St. Luke’s Servant Leadership Team, knowing that not everyone who normally attends the Church Conference would be able to go to Richmond on November 30 and in the interest of giving everyone the opportunity to participate in the business of the Church,  felt that in preparation for that District Event, St. Luke needed to have an official Church Conference.  The District Superintendent has given us permission to call our own Church Conference presided over by Pastor Mark, for Tuesday, November 28 at 6:30 P.M. in the Sanctuary.   At this time we will elect our leaders for 2018, hear the report of the Staff Parish Relations team concerning clergy salaries,  approve candidates for ministry, and affirm our intentions concerning our Mission Covenant with the rest of the churches of the Kentucky Conference.   It is important to note that we are holding this Church Conference in preparation for the District Conference not in place of it.   We are hopeful that many will choose to attend both.   If we have several  persons interested in riding the bus to Richmond, we will run it.   If you are interested in riding it, we NEED YOU TO SIGN THE SHEET ON THE WALL  IN THE CONNECTION CENTER.   Please plan to attend both of these important meetings in the life of St. Luke.
