Dear St. Luke Community,

Our Youth Pastor Brandon Weaver and his wife Haley have been invited to plant a campus of Community of Hope Church in South Florida – their home church, originally planted by Haley’s Dad, Rev. Dr. Dale Locke. Their last day at St. Luke will be May 2nd. I realize this information comes as a surprise to you and it was for Brandon and Haley too. I had the privilege of being a church planter before coming here to St. Luke, and I am thankful they will have an opportunity to plant a church and work with their family in ministry. Starting this summer, Brandon will be working part time as the campus pastor of the third COH campus while continuing as a full time student at Asbury Theological Seminary with plans to graduate in the spring of 2022. Haley will go on staff at Community of Hope Church in a full time capacity as the Director of Multi-Site Strategies.

This is a bittersweet moment for Brandon and Haley because they love St. Luke! They both want to make clear that they were not planning in any way to make this transition, but the Lord had another plan for them. They have loved our students well, and feel privileged to have had this opportunity to serve them as their youth pastors. They are committed to assisting in the transition process over the upcoming months.

I wanted to let you know that the Staff Parish Relations Team and I currently have the following transition strategy in place:

  1. St. Luke Church (whole community) learns of Brandon’s departure on Infonline e-blast – Friday, March 5.
  2. St. Luke youth hear from Brandon and Haley in person at youth group and process what will unfold over the coming months – Sunday, March 7.
  3. We will be moving the Youth Mission Trip to July 12-16 to allot for Pastor Brian and the new Youth Pastor to go on the trip together. You can sign up for the trip by emailing Brandon at bweaver@stlukeumc.org.
  4. The church will begin looking for a new youth pastor shortly. More information will follow in due time.

Please join me in prayer for Brandon and Haley as they prepare to grow the Kingdom in Florida, for our youth and youth leadership team here at St. Luke, and for the one God will send to us to help lead our ministry forward as they transition. Thanks always for your support and for the joy of being your Senior Pastor.
