Wednesday.comm Spring Semester 2018

Our Wednesday.comm Opening Meal and Service is January 24th with an Authentic Mexican Dinner.

Our opening event this year consists of a Mexican Dinner and opening worship and sharing service led by the Grow and Equip Leadership Team.  The opening worship service will start at 6:00 PM and run until 7:00 PM in the Trinity Room.  The service will consist of a time of worship, of witnessing to what God is doing and of commissioning the facilitators for this semester of Wednesday.comm.  Our opening service for Wednesday.comm will be put on by the Grow and Equip Team, so come out to worship and hear more about what God is doing at St. Luke!

Classes and Activities start January 31st!

Wednesday evenings are a great way to get connected at St. Luke.  Each Wednesday evening starts with a time of fellowship over dinner.  Following the meal there are classes and activities for children, youth, and adults.

Once again this year the meals will be hosted by different groups and classes to raise awareness and support for various ministries in our community. Meals are $5 per plate ($15 max per family, sharing allowed if you wish) and will be served from 5:15 -6:30 p.m.

Adult Classes and Groups

Challenges Facing the Christian Man: Living a Christ-centered life in today’s culture

Challenges Facing the Christian Man: Living a Christ-centered life in today’s culture. 6:00-7:15 Facilitated by Jim Eastburn and Casey McKenzie (January 31st-April 11th) Calling all men who desire to follow Christ more deeply in their everyday life. Young, old(er), new believer, seasoned follower – it doesn’t matter because we ALL need more of Christ in our life! During the 75 minute sessions (because an hour ain’t long enough) we will use the book “Walking with Christ in the Details of Life” as our framework but Scripture will always be our guide. While the class will be facilitated by Jim Eastburn and Casey McKenzie, it will not be “taught” in a literal sense. We will discuss, share, encourage, and pray for each other; sometimes in small groups, sometimes in the whole group. If you are thirsty for true Christian brotherhood and want to strengthen your walk with Christ, we invite you to come and see on January 31st.

What is Wednesday.comm?

This is our Wednesday evening format, and it’s for everyone! We have planned an exciting range of class styles and topics.

When is Wednesday.comm?

Well, Wednesdays of course! Adult groups will meet between 6 and 8 pm. Some classes will meet for one hour starting at 6 pm, some will start at 6:30 or 7 pm, and some may even run the whole two hours. Children’s programming will be 6-7 pm with childcare available 7-8:30 pm. Youth Bible Study is from 6-7:30 pm.

Why Wednesday.comm?

Do you attend a worship service on Sunday but feel like you could be doing more to grow spiritually? When you come to church, do you see faces you recognize, but feel like you don’t really know many people or haven’t really connected with anyone? Wednesday.comm is a chance for the people of St. Luke to gather in small groups and learn how to be more like Christ. This is a great opportunity for relationship-building and discipleship!

Wednesday.comm meals

Food and fellowship are important parts of community night at St. Luke. Meals will be prepared by groups within our church to raise money for a project or mission of their choice. Weekly meals are $5 per plate ($15 max per family, sharing allowed if you wish) and will be served from 5:15 -6:30 p.m. in the Gym. Watch the bulletin each week for information about the group preparing the meal and the menu. We are excited to offer a wide range of classes. If you plan on taking a class, please contact the facilitator or sign up in the Connection Center. We ask that participants cover the cost of their books if possible. If financial assistance is needed, please contact the facilitator or John Duff at jduff@stlukeumc.org.

What about kids or youth?

We have classes for kids and youth, too! For kids from Kindergarten through 5th grade, we will be teaching them “13 Very Cool Stories and Why Jesus Told Them” from 6:00 -7:00 pm. The youth group (6th-12th) will be having a Bible study in the youth room.
