United Methodist Women Annual District Mission Celebration

The Lexington District Annual Mission Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 23 at St. Luke.  Our theme will be Climate Justice and we will be celebrating our accomplishments and planning for future mission work. Our keynote speaker is Nancy Sleeth, the co-founder and Managing Director of Blessed Earth, an organization whose mission is to inspire faithful stewardship of all creation. We will begin at 8:30 a.m and dismiss about 1:00 p.m.   All are welcome! If you have any questions, please email Karen at Karen.Girard@gmail.com

Unity Service • Next Sunday, September 24, we will have a single unified worship service at 10:00 a.m.  There will be no other services or Sunday School classes that morning. Childcare is through preschool. We hope that everyone involved in the life of St. Luke will participate in this time of edifying and unifying worship as there will be participants from all five  Sunday worship services. Our Kentucky Conference Bishop Rev. Leonard Fairley will be preaching. Those who can park away from the main entrances are encouraged to show hospitality in this way. If you are able, please park in the neighboring lots along Perimeter Drive, to the left of the church building. Spaces closest to the church including behind the church should remain open as handicap spots. Come join us!

Blue Barrel Sunday • Today is Blue Barrel Sunday! Please place your Blue Bags filled with  with all kinds of canned meat and non-meat protein items in or near the Blue Barrels. If you forgot your bag, we will accept it at any time!

On the Street, Seasons Are Changing • A team from St. Luke serves breakfast at Nathaniel Mission on the 4th Sunday of each month.  We have been the only church that also distributes toiletries and clothing.  There is an ongoing need for toiletries, especially deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and razors.  With cooler weather, T-shirts can be layered under a long sleeved shirt.  Recycled jeans, underwear, and socks are always needed.  Thank you for your faithful support of our brothers and sisters who find themselves living on the edge. Please place donations in the basket at the Connection Center.

Be a Missionary an Hour a Month • Are you interested in putting your faith to work without a lot of travel or missing a night in your own bed?  Check out the opportunity to explore helping  the needy by serving a warm breakfast or distributing toiletries or clothing on the fourth Sunday of each month from 9:00 – 10:00 on Versailles Road. For more information, contact Denise Ockerman at 494-1482, or byronanddenise@twc.com.

Kids’ Cafe Collecting Donations! • Kids’ Cafe is collecting like-new Beanie Babies for Homework Prizes! Questions? Contact Sue Lord, 797-1586, suzannehlord@gmail.com. We also need your help! We will reopen this Tuesday after-school outreach on September 19 and invite you to work one or more Tuesdays a month. Please contact Sue Lord, 859-797-1586, suzannehlord@gmail.com, for specific options for serving.
