Christmas Shoeboxes—It’s Time! • Thank you to all who have committed to provide a Christmas box for the children in our partner village in Nicaragua.  The boxes are due TODAY!  Bring them forward during our closing song, and they will be dedicated before they are delivered.  If you forgot your box today, please bring it to the church by this Wednesday, August 30. Here are two more key dates: The Packing Party is this Thursday, August 31 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall to complete the final preparation of the boxes.

If you were not able to do a box but would still like to help, you can contribute $5 (note “Shoeboxes” in the memo line) to help with shipping for additional boxes.  You can also bring in supplies for the boxes to be assembled at the Packing Party.  Items needed include the following:  small stuffed animals or dolls, harmonicas, whistles, bells, deflated soccer ball and hand air pump, balloons, fast food toys, Hot Wheels, small craft kits.

Please join us—pizza provided!  Please sign up in the Connection Center so we know how much pizza to order. A group from St. Luke will travel to Dacatur, Alabama September 7-9 to deliver the boxes and work in the warehouse there.  Transportation provided, individuals cover the cost of their lodging and meals.  Sign up in the Connection Center!

Church-Wide Study Announced!

The Grow and Equip Team is happy to announce that St. Luke’s annual church-wide study will be over the new release by Jorge Acevedo and Wes Olds: A Grace-Full Life.  The authors offer us an excellent Wesleyan understanding of the way God works in the world in simple words for all people.  We will kick off on October 1st with an opening sermon and worship service.  The following Sunday, October 8th, will start the chapter 1 Sunday School discussions that will run for 4 weeks. There is an optional closing ‘epilogue’ session included. We are excited about how this book will help us all recognize God’s grace working in our past and give us a picture of how God might work in our lives for the future.  God’s all-reaching, soul saving, character shaping, never-ending love is constantly pursuing us!  Let’s be open to receiving it and see where God might lead us!
