Next Week: We’re Taking Wednesday.community Out into the Community!

Next week, October 31, we will not be having our usual weekly meal and Children’s classes. Instead, we have an amazing outreach opportunity for our very own neighborhoods and communities! Trick-or-treat night is the one night of the year when the kids and families come to our own porches and front doors; trick-or-treating actually provides an amazing and easy opportunity for outreach! So, instead of the community coming to the church on October 31 for Wednesday.comm, we are taking the opportunity to reach out to the kids and families.

We will be providing fun little invitations for you to include in your candy distribution. You could attach candy to the invitations and hand them to the little ones who knock at your door! These invitations will be available for you to take on Sunday please take as many as you think you’ll need!

Uncommon Decency • St. Luke has a new Sunday School opportunity at 11:00!  Pastor Mike Powers will be doing a 6-week study starting on November 4th and running through December 9th in room 128.  The study will be entitled: Uncommon Decency: Christian Civility in an Uncivil World, based on the book by Richard Mouw.  This is a great opportunity to talk about hot-topic issues and how Christians can react with civility and love amidst a culture driven by fear, hatred and bitterness.  Join us after the 9:30 service as we learn to discuss with love and understanding!

Don’t Forget to Fall Back • Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night as Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday, November 4.

The Martins in Concert to Benefit Children’s Homes

The smooth, rich sounds of multi-Dove Award winning and multi-Grammy nominated trio, The Martins will be featured in Lexington, KY, on Sunday, November 18, 2018, as the talented musical family comes to Centenary United Methodist Church, located at 2800 Tates Creek Road for an exciting musical event at 6:00pm, doors open at 5:00pm.  All proceeds benefit the Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Homes, offering hope and healing to abused and neglected children! Charge Conference Our Annual Charge Conference will be held, along with the rest of the Lexington District, on Tuesday, October 30  at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Richmond. We hope to have good representation there from St. Luke.   As far as the work that normally happens at Charge Conference, we will basically have a time of affirmation of the work that each local church has already done.

Pastor/Staff Appreciation Month

Although we appreciate our pastors and staff all year long, October is designated as Pastor and Staff Appreciation month by the United Methodist Church.  Please join us in celebrating our Pastors and Staff by expressing our love, appreciation for their dedicated service, and just simple words of encouragement.  Baskets will be placed in the Connection and Welcome Centers during the next couple weeks for you to leave cards, letters, notes of appreciation etc.  Many of the Staff also enjoy receiving gift cards, candy (especially chocolate) and other special gifts. Use your imagination to show our St. Luke Pastors and Staff how much we appreciate what they do for us all year long. Thank you, SPRC

Nursery Help Needed! • We have lots of babies/toddlers in the nursery! We want to start a rotation schedule quickly! The more people willing to serve the better!   Email Susan at scutshall@stlukeumc.org and let her know you’d LOVE to help!
