Wednesday.comm Meal and Classes • Our meal for Wednesday, October 11, is prepared and served by the staff of Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center. All proceeds will go to support Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center. Meal:  baked chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, rolls, tossed salad, and dessert. Meals are $5 per plate (sharing is allowed, max. $15 per family) and  will be served from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m.

 

St. Luke Health Expo 2017 • Get Your Annual Flu Shot on Wednesday, October 11th, 5:00-7:30 p.m. October is the best month to get your flu shot, so reserve the date!  The  cost is for a shot is $25 with payment due at the time of the injection.  There is no charge if you have Medicare or Medicaid and some insurance providers!  Nurses from the Health Department will administer the flu vaccine.  We must know if you have any children you want to have the shot, so we can give the appropriate dose!  Please begin to sign up at the Connection Center.  Other assessments such as blood pressure and glucose checks will be available on the 11th as well.

 

October is Pastor & Staff Appreciation Month • Although we appreciate our pastors and staff all year long, October is designated as pastor/staff appreciation month by the United Methodist Church. This month is the perfect time to show the staff the love, honor and encouragement they so deserve in special ways. Baskets will be placed in the Connection and Welcome Centers for you to leave cards, letters, notes of appreciation etc. Many of the staff members also love gift cards, chocolate, cookies and donuts!!   Let’s be creative and show the staff how much we appreciate what they do for us all year long.

 

UMW Holiday Market • October 20 & 21 • The United Methodist Women will be holding a Holiday Market on Friday, Oct. 20 from 6:00- 9:00p.m. and on Saturday, October 21 from 9:00-3:00 p.m.  Come do some shopping, find unique gifts and helpful items, and support local artists, vendors, and crafters and support the United Methodist Women and your local entrepreneurs.

 

Pumpkinfest is October 21  • The Children’s Ministry Leadership will hold our Pumpkinfest with games, activities, and tacos from 5-6:30pm in our front parking lot (inside the Life Center in the event of bad weather) followed by viewing “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” in the gym on a giant screen at 6:30 p.m.! Each week we send out an email with important information about the life of St. Luke. Signing up is quick and easy. Just fill out a “Get Connected” card or send an email to infoline@stlukeumc.org asking to be put on the list. Signing up is a great way to insure you know what’s happening at the church.  We welcome anyone to sign up to receive this email.

 

St. Luke University Day of Service • The college-aged ministry will be having a day of service on Saturday, October 14 beginning at the church at 8:30am and ending at 5:30 p.m. This will include landscaping, yard work, lunch (bring cash), pumpkin unloading and prayer. St. Luke Basketball League is Coming! •  The brand new and improved St. Luke Basketball League for kids is coming soon! Volunteers, coaches, referees, and participants will be needed. Be on the lookout for information coming soon!

 

Blue Barrel Sunday • Pick up your Blue Barrel Bag today and return it next Sunday filled with any and all kinds of soups.  Cream of chicken, cream of mushroom and other cream soups are popular as they can be used to create a casserole for a filling meal. Vegetable soup with or without meat,  as well as chicken noodle and tomato soups also go quickly.

 

Volunteer with God’s Pantry for Thanksgiving  •  On Tuesday, November 21st, St. Luke will be volunteering to distribute food to over a thousand families in three shifts as part of God’s Pantry Community Thanksgiving Food Distribution. This will be at Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road.   Shifts will be 9-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m., and 5-7 p.m.  There are tasks for a variety of ages and for a range of physical abilities.  Volunteers can sign up on the sign-up sheets located on the wall near the Connection Center desk.

Church-Wide Study  • Our study this year is based on the new release by Jorge Acevedo and Wes Olds, A Grace-Full Life.  This Sunday, the chapter one class discussions will begin.
