Health Expo: Flu Shots and Wellness Checks • Wednesday, October 24 5:00-7:30 P.M. in the gym • Please join us for wellness checks in the gym during Wednesday.comm! Flu shots will be given by the health department nurses, and there is no charge if you bring either your Medicare, Medicaid, or health insurance card; otherwise, the charge is $25. Pediatric doses will be available for children. October is the preferred month to receive your immunization. In addition, there will be “Wellness Check” stations for blood pressure, etc. Be sure to get a handout to maintain your health history. There will be a few health information tables.


United Methodist Women • Hope, Faith, and Love in Action • The Sarah Circle will meet on Thursday, October 11 at 10:30 a.m. in Room 4 off of the Fellowship Hall. Church Leaders for 2019 Wanted! •  We are praying that God will help us identify  persons who are willing to serve in a leadership position in the church for 2019.  No experience necessary. These are the qualities that the successful applicant will need:  1.) A deep and abiding love for God. 2.) A love for the church and a commitment to support the church with your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. Church members desired but not required. 3.) A willingness to go deeper in your relationship with Christ by serving in the church of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in applying, please send a brief statement of faith, including an indication of what kind of ministry that you believe God is calling you to be a part of, to Pastor Mark at mgirard@stlukeumc.org or place in my box at church. If possible, please submit your “application” by Sunday, October 21.


Collecting Containers • Kids’ Cafe needs the white plastic containers that come with individual flavor packets for water or similar containers! Please contact Sue Lord (797-1586) asap if you have any or bring to Connection Center. (photo attached)

Hurricane Florence Relief • We are assembling cleaning buckets to send to those who are victims of Hurricane Florence through UMCOR. The lists of needed items can be found online or in the Connection Center.  Please donate only those items requested. Drop-off items in the Connection Center. You can also give to UMCOR’s relief and recovery efforts: Make your checks out to St. Luke or give online and put “UMCOR” in the memo line.

Now Hiring in Mother’s Day Out

St. Luke Mother’s Day Out is looking for paid ($14 per hour) substitute sitters. Our program is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am-2pm. We care for 1-5 year olds (separate rooms per age group). Person’s interested should love being with children, be willing to change diapers/help little one who are potty training, and be available  at the last minute. St. Luke Basics (101) Class set to begin in October. •  Are you new to St. Luke and would like to know about the church and ways to get involved?   Beginning on Wednesday evening, October 3, as part of Wednesday.comm, Pastor Mark will be offering St. Luke Basics, which will explore the history, beliefs, values, and ministries of St. Luke United Methodist Church.   The class will meet from 6-7 p.m. on the Wednesdays of October, following the Wednesday night meal which begins at 5:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome! Pumpkin Fest 2018

The Children’s Ministry Leadership Team is seeking classes/groups to sponsor a booth on Oct. 27th for our 5th Pumpkin Fest.  Games & activities will be from 5-6:30pm followed by “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” in the Loft from 6:30-7. We aren’t selling pumpkins this year, but we still hope have this fun event for our families and those in our community- We need your help to make it work!  A few games available to use! Email Susan at scutshall@stlukeumc.org by the end of September to let us know how your group wants to participate!


Wednesday.comm Meal and ClassesOur meal for October 10 is prepared and served by the Seasons Class. Meal and cause to be announced. There is a suggested donation of $5 per plate (plate sharing is allowed!) and will be served from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m. Find out more about classes at stlukeumc.org/wednesdays.


Holiday Market 2018 • The holidays are just around the corner. There is no better way to celebrate than at the annual Holiday Market sponsored by the United Methodist Women at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Vendors and crafters will be in the Gym on Friday, October 12 from 6-9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 13 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Food is available to purchase both days. Come and find unique gifts and helpful items.


Christmas Shoebox Gifts for Nicaraguan Children • Did you know that a small shoebox can have a big impact?  Thanks to your generosity, when the shoebox is filled with a purpose, it can happen!  Be a part of changing children’s lives as we continue to build on our partnership with Yakalawas, Nicaragua.  Our Going Forth (Missions) Team is sponsoring this project again this year, and we hope the whole St. Luke family will participate!  See the display in our Connection Center lobby or contact Allen Porter (alport1941@gmail.com or 606-375-2753) or Nora Conner (nconner@stlukeumc.org or 859-269-4687) for more information.


St. Luke University Fall Retreat: God’s Call on our Lives!

When: October 19-21st   Where: Stanton Christian Church, Stanton, Ky

The College-Age group of St. Luke will host a retreat on October 19-21 in Stanton, KY, near the Red River Gorge.  We will be discussing and pondering what God’s Call on our lives looks like for all of us!
