Photos Needed for Father’s Day Memorial • On Father’s Day, June 18, we will be having a special memorial recognition during our morning services to remember the fathers in and of our congregation who have passed away over the course of the last year. If you would like to participate in this, please send us a photo of your father, along with his name, your name (if you wish), and the date of his birth and death. Email this to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, June 12.
Blue Barrel Sunday • Blue Barrel Sunday is next week! Let’s fill the God’s Pantry Blue Barrels with food donations. Please take home a Blue Barrel Bag and bring it back next week filled with all kinds of breakfast items such as a variety of cereal, cereal bars, pop tarts, etc.
Father’s Day Women’s Ensemble • Calling all gals who had a father, or think their husband is a great dad, and would like to honor him by singing in a women’s ensemble on June 18, Father’s Day! Contact Mariann Reinke for rehearsal schedule (email: email@example.com, phone 419-494-3335), or show up to rehearsal on Wednesday June 7 and 14 from 7-8:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This would be a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend who loves to sing!
Will You Help? • On Tuesday, June 13, there will be an afternoon of service and learning at the Kentucky Annual Conference. One of the opportunities to serve will be putting together health kits for the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR). The goal is 2000 kits! Churches throughout Kentucky are invited to donate various items to fill the kits. Those in the Lexington District are asked to bring large and sturdy combs, not pocket sized combs. There will be a box in the Connection Center to collect the combs. Thanks for your help!
Media Servants Needed • We are looking for a few people to run the computer (for the projection system) and the sound board approximately one Sunday per month. If you can’t make the commitment but would be willing to be a last-second substitute, we still need you! Training will be provided. If you would like to volunteer, or have questions, please contact: Mariann Reinke, director of worship, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 419-494-3335.
Looking for Your “God Story”! • This summer’s Summer Makeover sermon series (Pardon The Interruption) will begin on June 18 and will run through August 8. We will be focusing on the times in Jesus’ ministry when he was interrupted by folks, how that led to amazing things happening in their lives and how we often meet Jesus in the interruptions of our lives. We are hoping to involve persons from the congregation in each service throughout the summer. Would you be willing to share a story (on video or live) about how God has interrupted your life and made amazing things happen for you? Take a look at the following scriptures and see if your story relates to or is inspired by any of them. Let Mariann Reinke or Pastor Mark know if you would be willing to share your story. The stories we will be focusing on are: Mark 5: 21-43; John 4:7-26; Mark 2:1-12; Luke 19:1-9; Mark 10:13-16; Mark 10:46-52; and Mark 6:31-44.
United Methodist Women Event • On Tuesday, June 13 at 6:00 pm, Lexington based charity YouthAlert will give a presentation and lead a discussion on bullying in America and share effective bullying prevention techniques. YouthAlert has just completed its third consecutive year of its in-school bully prevention program for middle schoolers and high schoolers which included over 10,000 students and 100 teachers. They will share youth insights and adult/youth interventions during the presentation. All ages and all opinions are welcome and encouraged at this event.
Donations of Supplies Needed for Guatemala Mission Trip! • We are in need of items to take on our mission trip to Guatemala later this month: balloons, crayons, sidewalk chalk, straight straws, glue sticks, wooden clothes pins, pipe cleaners and children’s scissors. Please place donated items in the brown basket under the Guatemala display table in Connection Center by June 15. For more information, contact Reid Buchanan at email@example.com
Family VBS Needs • There are a few items we need for VBS this year: magazines for a craft project, 5 pound bags of flour for a science project, baby oil for a science project, and packaged cookies for dessert for our snack dinner. If you can help provide these items, there are collection bins outside Susan Cutshall’s office. Thanks for helping!
You Can Help the Homeless • Our brothers and sisters living on the edge of society are often forgotten when the weather warms up. A team from St. Luke serves breakfast at Nathaniel Mission each fourth Sunday. We also distribute donations of toiletries and clothing that are collected at the Connection Center. Hotel toiletries and razors, shaving cream, deodorant, sun block, and toothpaste are always welcome. Consider going through your closet and donating a t-shirt, jeans, shorts, underwear, socks, a pair of shoes. The bulk of the mission guests are men, but there is a need for casual women’s clothing. The need is ongoing. Thank you for your faithful support.
